I am still hoping for some help with my desktop background. I have tried the
ripple effect and it would not stay. Yes, I clicked on apply then ok. I
also tried Azul effect. In maybe ten minutes it modifies the theme and
changes my screen to black. I try to take off the screen saver and set it to
none. This changes back also. Is there anyone out there that has an idea of
what could be wrong and what I can do? I know it is not a major problem, but
I would really like to have a pretty desktop. Thanks!

The above link describes your issue and may well be your situation. This
can be caused by the mentioned "Walladay" program that is installed with
other applications, i.e. Snapshot. The search for files "mgx*.*" or
"Walladay" or "Snapshot" should reveal if this is the source of your
changing desktop.
