I'm trying to allow users to paste a link to a file in a
text box in a record. The code below opens a Windows
explorer type of interface and lets me choose a file, but
just puts the link in a dialog box. I need it to paste
into a text box within the form. Can anyone help me to
modify this code to perform that function?

Well, instead of chucking the return string away in a msgbox, you could try
passing it to the text box...

Could you plug that into the code, so that I can see how
it would go together. My access skills are very rough.
I learn best by seeing it work and then working to
understand how it is working. I appreciate all of your
help.

Which version of Access are you using?

Is the field defined as a hyperlink field?

I am trying to get this database running for a
presentation tomorrow. I'm just getting back into coding
in my new role and am a little confused on where
everything goes within the code. I was wondering if you
could plug the needed strings into the original code I
sent so that I could just copy and paste it into my
module. I'll be able to take the time to learn how it
works from there. I appreciate all of your help.

I'm using it in Access 2000 at work and 2002 at home.
At this point I click the command button, which opens
explorer. When I select the file, a dialog box comes up
saying "The file path is: ...". I need it to be posted
into a text box in the record so it will be saved, not a
dialog box.
