Modifying all day events reminder

I have set normal calendar markings to alarm 15 minutes before the actual
event but all day events are causing problems by alarming 18 hours before.
I'd like to change them to remind just a couple hours before, not 18 hours,
but I couldn't find a setting which could change all day events reminder
time, is it even possible? I'm using Office XP ja Outlook 2002 with Windows
XP Pro.

When you are creating the "all day event" you can change the reminder at that
time or open the event later and change the reminder time but there is not
global setting that can be changed for the the reminder default time for all
day events.

Why does Microsoft not listen to it's customers and change the stupid option?
I've been woken lots of time at 6 am by my Blackberry reminding me of an all
day event starting the next day. Also it is very annoying that the default
for all day events is Free. That makes no sense at all.

this default which has been in all versions of Outlook I've used and still
seems to be on 2007?
One does not always remember to change these options when one is in a hurry
and aren't systems supposed to be configurable our needs rather than the

The problem may be that giving you what you want may deny to someone else
what they want. We all have differing needs.

Then perhaps you may elect to request it in the next version, although
that particular feature hasn't seemed to generate many requests.

This morning a reminder for an all-day event (a birthday) again woke up me
and my husband at 6 a.m. when the alarm went off on my phone. This happens
too often -- and it took me forever to figure out why I was getting waked up
by alarms I dont' set at 6 a.m.

Who on earth would want an automatic reminder at 6 a.m. the previous day?
Why hasn't this been fixed? What's even more frustrating is that when you go
out of your way to disable that inane default, the next time you edit
ANYTHING about the event, the awful 6 a.m. alarm automatically returns,
without you doing anything to set it.

I'm hoping the Palm Pre will be a better alternative to this Windows nonsense.

Editing events in outlook does not reset the alarm if you selected none for
default. If you set a different reminder, only toggling 'all day' checkbox
off and on will reset the reminder. Other edits will not.

I'm not sure how the pre will be better - if you are syncing with outlook
you'll have the same problem unless you can tell its sync software to drop
reminders.
