Anybody know how you can modify the e-mail status line
under your account name on the Windows XP Welcome
Screen? I recently switched my Internet provider and,
thus, my e-mail account, but the e-mail status line under
my account on the welcome screen continues to display
that I have unread messages from my previous e-mail
account, and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.

Thanks,

From what I found regarding the e-mail status value next to the login
usernames, it is obtained from Microsoft's Messenger program. If you no
longer have that Hotmail account then don't bother to load Messenger on
Windows startup; i.e., go into Messenger and configure it to NOT load on
startup. If that doesn't get rid of the e-mail count on the Welcome screen,
use the TweakUI program in the Power Toys for Windows XP to disable the
option to show e-mail counts on the Welcome screen.
