Just got a new Fujitsu Scaleo p ( pentium D ) when checking it out I went
into system, hardware, device manager. only to find that there is no modem
listed. I have not tried to connect this machine to the net as it has been
purchased as a christmas present. my question is this. is there no modem in
this machine. is there a faulty modem in this machine. or will the modem only
show in device manager if it is connected I have tried the PC world web site
but cannot find the machine listed on there support pages, any help at all
would be appreciated

Well...the machine probably does not have a modem...
I suggest using it on either DSL or cable

The data sheet for the computer

It looks as if it may be an option that you may not have dependant upon the
specific model in the range maybe.. I suggest that you determine how the
computer will be connected to the internet.. if a high speed connection is
to be used, you would not need a 56k modem, although they are still useful
as many ISPs delivering high speed broadband also give the option of a back
up dialup connection..

Analogue modems are easy enough to install, so shouldn't be a problem if one
is required, other than breaking the seal on the back, thereby invalidating
any warranty.. you may want to get the store to do it, and keep the receipt
for work done..

There is a huge choice of speakers available these days. .the manufacturer
is merely giving you the choice to get your own while saving $5.. :)

There are also USB modems so you don't have to open the case. Did the system come with a monitor?
That may have speakers built into it.

LOL, I know that. I was just tacking on to yours because you brought up the modem info. Monitor
question was directed to Jack.
