Modem Uninstall

I have a Ethernet on my motherboard which I am using for
connection to the internet,I also have a Modem card
installed which I do not use,can I remove the Modem card
and if so do I have to remove the drivers from Add/Remove
before removing the Modem card phyically,
hope you can understand what I mean,

Remove the drivers, shut down, then remove the modem.
 
Thanks for the replys,I am giving it away and it is much
clearer on how to go about it,
