I have problems getting onto DSL sometimes. Is there a specific sequence I
should boot up in? My modem remembers my ID and password to my DSL ISP.
Should I normally boot up the modem first? Or the router and then the modem,
.......?

I am guessing when you refer to modem that this is the DSL gateway to your ISP? If so, then always boot up you modem first so it can connect the DSL line to the ISP. What sort of router are you using?

It's a linksys WRV54G. It has wireless capabilities but I don't use them.
And the modem is a DSL speedstream modem. I don't know what a gateway is.

You need to power on the modem first and then the router a bit later but I suggest
you don't turn them off at all. There is no need to and it will cause more problems
than just leaving it turned on. My guess is between both of them they will use less
than $1 electricity for a year. --- Steve
