Modem Programs

Any experience with modem based programs in Vista? I have tried a number of
programs thus far, but none are able to detect incoming calls. The same
modem in XP works fine.

In each case the modem initializes correctly and waits for calls. Call
notifications never occur. You can even use HyperTerminal (which has to be
downloaded for Vista) and it shows no action data for incoming call events.

Must remember, that the lack of modem features in Vista is because many
computers now don't actually use one... generally people have a broadband
connection, so it might just be Microsoft's way of... easing the modem out a
bit )

There is that, but really it will be up to the modem mftrs. to produce
good drivers and software for their products that work with Vista. It
is still pretty early to expect finished third-party programs.

That's sounds a bit lame :) and is probably not the explanation for the
problem. It's likely more a driver issue or somesuch than any particular
strategy on Microsoft's part.

I found a different modem that work better. Still not XP level, but it
shows calls correctly. Clearly this is a driver issue.
