Modem problems when upgrading from Me to XP

oliver

I am trying to upgrade from Me to XP Pro. After installing
XP the modem no longer functions.I have tried installing
new up to date drivers with no effect. The Modem is
Diamond Supra SST 56i PRO DF, with a SUP 2850 PCI
enumerator.

Any ideas???????

Drivers are entirely the responsibility of the hardware manufacturer. If
you are having a problem updating their drivers or the updated drivers do
not properly function, please contact the manufacturer's tech support.
Usually you can do this through the manufacturer's website or their phone
support.

To begin with an upgrade from ME to XP is not a good idea. A complete and total new install is the best. One suggestion I can make is for you to unplug the machine. Open your tower and then remove the modem. Now reboot. Let it get to the desktop and then go into the network connections and delete any connections you find. Also go into the device manager and see that no modems are displayed. If there are any right click on them and delelte or uninstall them. Now shut your machine down and then plug the modem back in and reboot. XP should recognize the new hardware and install the generic drivers automatically. Then go to the manufacturers site and get their XP drivers. Good luck.
