You didn't answer my question.
Did you check your connections on back of modem for phone line.
Plug extra phone into modem. Does it have a dial tone?

checked modem line and phone line i get a dial tone from line from modem do i
need to config anything from admin tools or modem settings?

Are you just trying to get a dialup connection for the Internet?
Open Internet Explorer
Tools on toolbar, Internet Options, Connections tab, Setup.
This runs Connection Setup Wizard. Follow directions.
You will need to know your dialup access number, username, and password.
For Internet Mail, open Outlook or Outlook Express and create an account.
Same info will be need. username, etc same as Internet Explorer.

Your Internet provider should have given you all the information you need.

Somewhere along the process .you will select your modem to dial up the
connection.

If you have service line plugged into "line" connection on modem and phone
in "phone" connection with a dial tone, and the modem queries okay. Then
everything should be good. Only need to setup connections in internet and
mail account.

Don't know what else could be wrong after you did all this.

Is your modem recognised by Windows? Have you installed the correct
drivers for it? Windows generic drivers may not be suitable for the
type of modem you are using so install te correct drivers from CD or
floppy that came with the modem.

Sorry. I lost track of your goal.
You're trying to setup fax printer?
What fax software are you using?
Microsoft or other?
Did you setup fax printer or select fax printer in fax console or software ?
What printer do you have?

Since you have DSL, do you have the faxmodem connected through one of
the filters necessary for connection of a telephone to a DSL equiped line?

Proper connection of the modular plugs on the faxmodem is VERY
important. A typical faxmodem will be designed to disconnect the
connection to the pass through jack when it takes the modem off hook. If
the cable to the phone line is connected to the pass through jack, your
modem will disconect itself from the phone line and will never take the
line off hook. Either way, the dial tone on a telephone pluged into the
modem will loose dial tone when the modem tries to take the line off hook.

Turn off all unnecessary sources of sound in the room and listen for the
relay to take the line off hook.

when i try to setup a dial up conn on aol i hear a click but no dialtone i
have a dsl phone line filter connected to the modem do i need to fix anything
in admin tools or modem setup?
