Modem networking

I have two computers (A,B) with win xp pro. I can connect them through
modem at 33,6 kbps, and Incoming Connections and use web server on the
machine A with manually assigned ip addresses, but I can not use ms
network. No matter what I have tried it always said: "[Mshome] is not
accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.
Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access
permissions. The list of server for this workgroup is not currently
available."
When disconnect computers Ms windows network in the Network connection
window shows [Mshome] workgroup. They are same on both computers.
I tried with Local security Settings/Policies without results.
Is there any possible solution to this situation?

You need to connect your two machines via Network Interface Cards and
a Cat5 Xover cable, there are plenty of resources detailing how to do
this by googling.
