Modem Icon Gone! Dialup

My active modem icon on the taskbar has disappeared and the settings
in dial-up networking say I am disconnected when I am online. Anyone
else ever had this happen?

The exact same thing just happened to me 30 mins ago. I

went on line but there was no modem icon and the
notification customize showed the icon disconnected. I
had no way of disconnecting from the internet but I
rebooted and everything is normal again. The wonderful
world of xp!
