Modem Connection Icon

The icon for the connected modem isn't appearing in the system tray, and I
have tried setting on Taskbar Properties to no avail.

Can anyone tell me how to get the connection icon to appear in the system
tray so that I can see when the modem is connected?

Go to START - SETTINGS.. click on NETWORK CONNECTIONS.. select your dialup
connection.. now select properties.. there is a check box at the base of the
window 'show icon in notification area when connected.. check it..
