Mobo CPU and Memory Recommendations

P

pcm

I've been asked to assemble a new PC for someone, looking for a P4 ~2.6 and
a mobo with onboard everything.
I have seen a couple of threads for 865G chipsets, I'm really looking for
some recommendations / suggestions for these or other motherboards and
memory, probably 512mb to run the P4.
The system will not be used for games or any heavy number crunching.

TIA
Pete

Might as well get a Celeron or Athlon XP and save yourself a few quid
(and spend the money you save on non-onboard sound and graphics!)

Whenever someone asks "what memory shall I get?" there is only one answer:

Crucial.

Period.

Except if you want PC3200 (DDR400) at CL2.5 that is, as they don't
have any.

BigP:

My new Ga-7VT600/BARTON_2600 is every bit as friendly, robust and quick
as my D845/2.66_P4 ....... and about 1/3 cheaper.
