mobility radeon 9200 support for 1680*1050

Hi there,

i've got a sony vaio vgn-a29gp and it's got the mobility radeon 9200.
However, i just got a 22" LCD which i'm running as monitor number 2.
the problem is that the LCD wants a native resolution of 1680*1050
otherwise things looks a bit stretched and doesn't look very good. The
video card doesn't support this res.

anyone know if there is a driver i can get for this? not possible
maybe?

thanks for any comments.

did you load the lcd's driver?

My ATI 8500aiw did not show 1680x1050 as a possible resolution until I
installed the viewsonic drivers.

The mobility 9200 series will support this custom resolution on the external
LCD. The correct monitor drivers must be installed. I believe the problem
you are running into is that you want the external 22"LCD to run at
1680x1050 while the laptop screen is running at it's native 1280x800 at the
same time. The card can't do both resolutions at the same time. Disable the
laptop display and use the 22" monitor drivers to get 1680x1050. It would be
nice if both could run at this, but your laptop LCD max is 1280x800.

Your right. I haven't installed the drivers as yet. Bugger as i can't
use both monitors then. Thanks for the comments.

cheers,
