Activesync 4.1 easily allows access to my Mobile 5 file system, but does not
succeed in sync'ing with Outlook 2003. Any suggestions?

What happens? It certainly syncs for me. Have you tried the ActiveSync
newsgroup
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync ?

Error message reads 85010014 problems with desktop.
I can now sync with an older version of XP, still not not with the new
computer with the lastest XP on

The error reads "Synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect
your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft
ActiveSync Troubleshooter in Microsoft ActiveSync Help on your desktop
computer"

I have been throught the troubleshooter, but it does not seem to address the
Outlook interface as much as the connection itself. My connection seems to
work well, i.e. I can move files easily.

I have rebooted both machines, reinstalled ActiveSync software, performed
Detect and Repair on Outlook, and removed data connections.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did start with the ActiveSync group and they
suggested it was an Outlook problem and referred me here.

Truly? I'm surprised. Did you start over with a new partnership? What
optiosn in the partnership have you selected?

Brian - Yes. I did start with a new partnership. I have selected several
options, including calendar only, each time deleting the partnership and
starting over. It tries to sync, "Looking for changes" for 3 to 5 minutes
before failing. Does that offer any clues? I had been using ActiveSync (3.8
or 4.0?) with another smartphone 2003 previously. Is there maybe a lingering
ghost that is interfering with Outlook?

My only other suggestion is to start with a new mail profile.
