MMC access denied

I am trying to run the Group Policy editor, but it is restricted by the MMC.

When I try to run the MMC, I get the following error meassage:

"Current Polices prevent the Microsoft Management Console from opening in
auther mode. Contact your system administrator for details."

I have administrator rights, but I do not know how to change the access to
this module.

Can anyone tell me how to turn this on?

Windows XP, SP2

Are you trying to access group policy through MMC? If so, you should be able
to bypass MMC by typing in gpedit.msc at the run line. Once GP is open you
should be able to find the author setting for MMC.

If for whatever reason this doesn't work for you, I would try creating
another admin account - logging in as that and trying... this should at least
tell you if the setting is setup for machine or user.
