missing symbol WNetRestoreConnectionA in mpr.dll

When I use the visual C++ utility depends on the library shlwapi.dll
depends tells me that this library loads more than 10 other dlls.
My problem is that it also loads mpr.dll and does not find a symbol
(WNetRestoreConnectionA) in it.
When I do the same on another XP Prof machine I get much fewer
libraries being loaded by shlwapi.dll including mpr.dll is also not
loaded.
The version of both libraries is identical on both systems.
I found this problem already described in this newsgroup but without a
resolution.
My machine is XP professional 32bit version with office 2003 and Visual
C++ 2005 installed.

All this result in that my console application (compiled and linked
with visual C++ 2005) cannot be started.
