Missing SRV DNS records

T

Teo Chee Yang

I've just created a new child domain and once rebooted, I
realized that some SRV records, for e.g. _ldap._tcp.x.x.,
_kerberos._udp.x.x etc. I've checked netlogon.dns file
and confirmed that nosuch rcords exist.

I configure my DNS setting in the IP address to point to
itself and use forwarding to DNS server in the parent
domain for further name resolution. May I know why this
is happening? Any help is very much appreciated.

Try this. Stop the netlogon.dns and netlogon.dnb files from the winnt\system32\config directory. Then from a command prompt, type "ipconfig /flushdns" then
"ipconfig /registerdns". After both of these commands have been run, start the netlogon service again. Check for the records. Also check for any errors in the
event logs. Also beware that some records in the child actually get created in the parent domain.

Thank you,
