Missing "Select All" menu in 2007???

I just installed Office 2007 and when I right click in the body of an email
message, the "Select All" command is now gone. In fact all of the typical
Edit menu commands are gone except for Copy. Instead there are some other
menu choices that are of no use to me.

It there a way to get the standard, right-click menu items (Copy, Cut,
Paste, Select All, etc.) that used to be there in 2003 back?

Thanks.

You mean in a received item? You can still use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL+A
and CTRL+C. If you want to editor options put the item in edit mode;
Open the message-> Other Actions-> Edit Message...

Thanks for the info Roady.

So I'm assuming by your response, I can no longer right click in a received
message to pull up the edit menus like I used to do in Outlook 2003.

I always expect changes, for better or worse, when upgrading to newer
versions of software but this one seems very strange to me to eliminate a
very common method of editing that many programs use.

You were never able to edit a message without putting it in edit mode. It
used to be Edit-> Edit message

Hello again Roady,

Maybe I'm not making myself clear.

For example, in Outlook 2003, if I right click in the body of a received
message, the small edit menu would appear with the typical 'Copy', 'Paste',
'Cut' & 'Select All' menus for me to choose from. If I wanted to copy all of
the text to paste to another program, I would simply click on 'Select All'
and then 'Copy'. Very simple, very easy. I never had to change modes or use
any keyboard controls.

This method of right clicking for an edit menu is used widely in many
popular software apps (at least the ones I use).

With Outlook 2007, I now have to click once in the body of the email
message, type Ctrl+A on my keyboard and then Ctrl+C. A few more steps than
what I am used to but it's not the end of the world.

Again, it sounds like I'm out of luck on doing it the way I used to do it in
2003 with the right click menus.

Cut and Paste don't make sense as these are invalid anyway. This is the case
for Outlook 2003 and previous as well. Basically all you are missing is
Select All. While I understand your point, it is not more steps as you claim
it to be;
previous; right click in message body-> click Select All in context menu->
right click in message body-> click Copy in context menu
now; click in message body-> CTRL+A-> CTRL+C

It is actually a step less and faster to execute.

I don't know why it got removed. It could be because it wasn't used very
often as most of the time only parts will be selected and copied and the
selection is being made with the mouse. Also the fact that it is basically a
trimmed down version pf the context menu that Word offer (which doesn't
offer the Select All option either) could have something to do with this.
