Missing security tab on folders and files - Vista Beta 2

I have downloaded and installed Windows Vista Home Basic Beta 2 x64 edition.

I am missing the security tab on files and folders. This is to be expected
as its home edition but on Windows xp you could untick the 'disable simple
file sharing' option and the tab would appear. This option is not present.

During testing I powered off my machine half way through an installation of
vista to see what would happen, then I installed a new version, it copied my
previous attempt to windows.old, now I am trying to delete this folder but am
unable to, error access denied appears, I need to take ownership and delete.

Whats strange is that if I share the folder with full share access and then
connect by share, it lets me delete the folder, no errors appear, but its not
really deleted it, when I close explorer & reopen the folder is back again!
is that a bug?

Actually your statement of "but on Windows xp you could untick the
'disable simple file sharing' option and the tab would appear" is
incorrect for XP Home. Home only used Simple Sharing so the option to
disable it only appears in Pro. The only way to get the security tab in
Home is to boot into Safe Mode. I haven't installed just the basic Home
version of Vista, but you may have to go into Safe Mode to see the
security tab.

Why don't you try it and let us know?
