Missing RAM in XP SP2

M

MoosieAZ

This may be an old topic to some but its new to me. I just installed
and additional 2 GBs on a Dell XPS [3.2GHz] with an original 2GB of DDR
memory. Memory is poroperly matched and BIOS shows 4GB. However,
WinXP shows only 3.25GB.

I have tried a few BOOT.INI switches [/3GB and /PAE] but nothing seems
to reclaim the lost 3/4 GB! Can anybody tell me what is going on AND,
is there a way to reclaim that lost RAM?

Thanks much....

I just went thru this. DO you have AGP? if so, try reducing the
aperature size.

No, it has nothing to do with aperture size. This is a normal situation.
