missing program files

recently reinstalled win xp home ed. evrything working great for a day. Now I
am being told that C:\WINDOWS\system32\MAPISRVR.EXE cannot access a necessary
file called gapi32.dll. When a search is done it can find this file (gapi) so
I am assuming it's there but mapisrvr can't access it???
Is there anything I can do to repair this without having to re-install
again. Thanks for any and all help.
