missing posts ??

Hey gang, I have noticed today that I seem to be missing posts. I'm seeing
alot of Re: posts with the original message missing. I am on the MS news
server. I download 3000 headers every morning. Right now I have downloaded
all the hearders/messages that the ms server will give me, but I still see
re: posts with the original missing. I started checking the dates on some of
them thinking maybe they were real old, but some are from late last night
and this morning. I can even find the original post using the search
function on the web interface(go figure), but the original doesn't load in
oe. Any ideas? Is the server acting up again? Thanks.

I'm seeing the same thing on my own news server. I receive feeds from 2
different sources, so I should have most the posts out there.

Right before your post is an RE: How can I make Windows Media Player... from
Dee. I thought my feeds were getting messed up. I'm glad to hear that it's
not on my end though. :)

Thanks Mike. It must be a server issue cause I tried my isp's server and
it's the same. Thanks for verifying.

I've been seeing ( actually not-seeing) it for about a month now but I've
only noticed it with my own posts. I can see the string before me and the
string after me with my post attached but I never see my post as a separate
item. I use the msnews feed.

It *may* be a propagation issue between servers in the 'news farm'.
This has been giving trouble, and it may be that the posts to which
reference is being made date from that time, and have gone from the
server you have connected to

There are a few people around who seem habitually to reply to posts that
are about a week old and which have often gone from my machine's own
database. Where I see a whole slew of Re from one person I am inclined
to suspect this. 'Peter Hutchison' often does this - making his
contributions of very doubtful value. 'PleaseReplytonewsgroup' today
seems to have replies to posts which I think from memory may be quite
old, but I don';t propose to get 15000 headers in order to check.

Seems to be better today. Thanks, Alex.
