I added a user (administrator permissions) and deleted the
original administrator level user on XP Home edition. Now
when I map to a previously accessed folder on a network
computer (running Windows 98)I am missing the option to
save the password. A reconnect a logon error message
appears saying that the user name or password isn't right,
etc.

What has happened and how do I fix it? Changing the
password on the shared folder doesn't help.

Thanks.

Removing the original Administrator account is a very Bad Idea. I
suggest you either 1) do a System Restore to before you deleted the
account; or 2) reinstall Windows. Having the "extra" Administrator
account will save your bacon in the future.
