Here is one for the virtual memory experts. I have a
laptop, a Dell Inspirion on my network, which any time it
boots or restarts, flashes an error that the page file is
either too small, or cannot be found, and a temporary file
has been created. It then goes on to describe how to fix
the problem by going to the Performance Options, setting
the min/max size, etc. You then click OK, and the PC
proceeds to boot up normally. This message then appears 2-3
times during a normal working day.
The user has not had any severe slowdowns, but there has
been some other problems appearing on the computer,
seemingly unreleated (windows installer is corrupted and
the like.)
The other problems appearing I can fix without having to
reformat the system, however this paging file problem is
plaguing me.
The even bigger oddity is that the setting I input, eg the
MIN/MAX and the like in the Performance Options settings,
are actually being retained. However, the error msg still
persists. Any ideas of whats going on and how to fix
it...short of slash and burning the system, would be great.
