Missing or Corrupt: Winnt\System32\Config\Systemced

It doesn't work for me. The console is unable to find the
regback nor the system folder from c:\winnt\repair after I
renamed the two files.

I don't have the Emergency Repair Disk prior to the system
crash.

The machine is a notebook VAIO from Sony. The floppy disk
drive is USB connected, it can't really boot from floppy
disk. But I am not 100% sure myself.

Kindly advise.

Hey..try the following solution

Boot the computer from Installation CD and go to the Recovery Console
Go to "<system root>\system32\config\" directory
Then, type copy system.alt system and press Ente
Reboot the PC and it shuold work

One the PC boots, perform a SFC and once again restart the PC. Do let me know if you need more information
