I'm experiencing the problem of the missing or corrupt file when my
computer boots up. I have followed this guide:
http://www.digitalwebcast.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=8658-1
but have run into a problem that it does not go into. When I begin to
start typing in the code it says that "The file could not be copied"
Before starting to type in code C:\WINDOWS is present, but the guide
makes no mention to the fact that it pops up. Is this causing the
problem? Thanks in advance.

What is the file name?

The file name that is "missing or corrupt" is
C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

The file name that is "missing or corrupt" is
C\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I've seen this several times in the last couple months - a
repair/reinstall fixes it.

You might also be able to fix it by booting into recovery mode, run a
chkdsk and then reboot.

What I saw was an error in the directory marker and checkdisk fixed
that.

True, but a repair installation may be over-kill. Using the Recovery
Console to restore the Registry from the back-up copy, as per the KB
Article I cited in my reply to the OP, is usually sufficient.
