I just installed an additional 256 meg of Ram to my existing 256 meg.
Windows shows an available 480 meg. Is this normal, if so whear is the
other 32 meg?

Most likely being used by your video controller.

Check system specs to see if it says "Shared Video Memory
32MB"

Instead of having a separate video card, you almost certainly
have onboard video on the motherboard and it's using 32MB.

The same was true before you added 256MB. You only had 224 usable
then; you just hadn't noticed.

You have an onboard video "card" ie chipset. It's taking the 32 meg.

You will be using a video chip built onto the motherboard, rather than
a separate video card. These take some of the RAM for video RAM, so it
is not available for Windows. 32 GB is typical

Really Alex?! Wow! You must be using an Itanium-based system then. My
pathetic 32-bit system can only handle 4GB. ;o)

If you keep this up, you'll need to post as Miss Persistent Nit-Pick.

I usually make that mistake the other way around--writing MB when
I mean GB. But I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to do it.
;-)
