Missing "Hibernate" option on shutdown

Michael Bate

Hibernation appears to be enabled on my image. I have checked the
"enable hibernattion support" in the ACPI Uniprocessor PC settings.

But the shutdown dialog shows no hibernate option.

I reviewed some old message (Jan, 2005 - is this pre-SP2? I am using SP2).

One asks if he included the "Disk Dump Drivers" component. I can find
no such component in the current component database.

Another says that the graphics driver must be properly installed. I'm
not clear why this should have anything to do with it.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

The generic graphics driver doesn't support power management so the system
will not go into hibernation.

Did you try hitting the shift key to switch the Standby button to hibernate?

Thank you for your reply.

With only the generic graphics driver, the Standby button was disabled.

Installing the correct graphics driver fixed the problem.
