missing hard disk space

HI, I am missing 2.5 gigs out of a 9G hard drive that is
not partioned (or at least it is not showing a
partition)...this is the latest version of XP for
home....any thoughts?

Go to run,type:diskmgmt.msc The properties of each disk should show,or
go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:DiskPart Then type:list disk, then/or type:
list volume
 
In addition; if you yourself installed XP and the whole HD is only 9gigs (?)
then 2.5 gigs for the install of XP etc should be about right, and whatever
is left is empty space for other stuff. If someone else installed it and you
do not know what they did or how they did it, more than likely there is one
partition (spanning the whole drive) and XP is on that 2.5 which is about
what it would take for an XP install. Follow?
