missing files

I accidently deleted some files i believe in the temp
folder under local settings in XP. Now when i try to add
or remove software or programs i get the error
message "An installation file could not be installed, the
parameter is incorret". I did a repair with the XP disc
and reloaded the updates but it still says the same thing

I would look in the Recycle bin for the deleted files and
restore from there.

The problem is a little more complicated than that. The
recycle bin was deleted a few days ago. I also tried to
copy the temp folder from another similar computer but
that did not work
