Hello:
I ran checkdisk from a Bart PE disk just to check the condition of my C
drive, after the program finished I looked things over and my second drive
was made blank . I had data on the second drive that was important to me.
Can I get it back. Any help is welcomed. Running XP home.

Thanks

First - why would you bother using a BartPE disk? Why not just run CHKDSK
from Windows XP itself and have it do it on the next reboot for your system
drive? (In other words - why would you deviate from the normal method of
doing something like a CHKDSK that touches every single file on a drive?)

Second - what does disk manager show in Windows XP? Does it show the
drive - does it have a drive letter, etc? How mauch used/free space does it
show? Does it look like you think it should there?

Third - what about your external backups (CD/DVD/external drive/etc)? Is it
so old that you would lose a lot of data?

Fourth - have you looked in your even log for any events that might
correlate to the missing data time? Although - running from and external
application as you did may make that null and void...

Last - have you tried any undelete software? I like Executive Softwares
Undelete... It's one of the few 'pay' softwares I push in situations like
this. There are free software to help in situations like this - but
Undelete seems to work great! http://undelete.com/ You could try it for
free to see if it sees anything...
