I recently started getting the message on startup that rundll32.exe could
not find the file "msiefr40.dll." The "msiefr40.dll" file is supposed to be
in the c:\windows\system32 folder -- and isn't. I don't have a system
restore point that I can go back to (had to turn off system restore to do
some other repairs, and lost all the former restore points).
I used the system file checker utility to check for missing or corrupt
files, and still get the message. I checked the .cab files on the XP update
disk and can't find the file anywhere. Anyone have any ideas that might
help me. The fact that the file is missing doesn't seem to affect windows
performance -- but is annoying.
