Missing exe file

Several months ago I recieved a malicious virus that I
have since removed and repaired by clearing out system
restore points, running updated virus protection etc...
Even though I have removed the virus, I have obvioulsy
lost an important file because when windows xp pro boots,
it says "windows cannot find C:\Windows\System32
\winsys32.exe"? Can someone tell me what program is
asking for that file? There is obviously a probelm in
the registry. Help!

No, winsys32.exe is *not* an important file. It's the virus you
removed. You are now apparently left with a reference to it that
also needs to be removed. Go to http://www.symantec.com/search/
and enter winsys32.exe for more information.
