Missing Emails after an archive

Hello everyone,

I have a Windows XP Pro machine running Microsoft Office 2003.

I did an archive of the INBOX and the resulting pst file has all the
folders, but none of the messages. To make matters worse, the original
Personal Folders does not have any messages either though the folder
structure still exists.

So essentially by archiving, I have lost well over a 1000 email messages.
However everything in sent items still exists.

Any suggestions/recommendations on how to get this data back?
