I seem to be missing the Desktop Tab in Display Properties on an XP Home
machine with SP2. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi Stu,

GPEdit.msc is available only in XP Pro. If you're using XP Home (applies to
Pro as well), read below:

There are atleast two possibilities for the problem:

1. NoDispBackgroundPage policy set
2. ClassicShell is enabled

For case 1: Remove the "NoDispBackgroundPage" value from the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
-and-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

In the right-pane, look for "NoDispBackgroundPage" value and delete if
found.

For Case 1: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/singleclickfolder.htm (ignore the
title)
