missing cd key number on back of disk case for word '97....?

i bought an older version of word today ...'97 version & was installing it when it came to the 3rd page which asked for the cd key version on the back of the cd case on a sticker. on the back, there is no sticker anywhere
what do i need to do to get a key number just so i can install this software?

You should ask the seller for the CD Key number. If they cannot give it to
you, ask for your money back.

Hi Michelle,

First thing, you absolutely need a cd key to install every Office available at this time. So, you should go where you have bought your Office program and ask for a cd key. The person should be able to give it to you. If not, you will have to use other ways to find you cd key (Those ways cannot be describe here, if you want to know more, please e-mail me back).

also, i should have stated that the package was 'new' as in unopened & still sealed in its celophane wrapper. which led me to believe that int never had a sticker affixed to the case
i bought it at a school benefit rummage sale, thinking it would be something neat to play with
so there would be no way i could ask the previous owner anything about it....
im interested in alternative ways to get the key number, though.....
