missing CD Drive

I tried installing Roxio 5 Platinum (I have XP home
edition) and have lost my CDRW drive completely. It hsows
up in the BIOS but not in My Computer. The Device Manager
has an astersk beside the drive but gives an error
message -the driver may be corrupt or missing - code 39"
I tried re-installing windows using the cold boot program
from MS but it wont get past the second floppy because it
cannt load ntkrnlmp.exe (Error code 4)
I cannot even do a system restore to nay previous date.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Roxio 5 causes this problem. After installing V5 you must download
and install the upgrade from www.roxio.com and the problem should be
fixed.
