Missing Buttons

I am running XP Pro on a home pc and all of a sudden the
Shutdown button has disappeared as an option. The only
buttons that are visible are Switch user - Restart and
Cancel.

The only way I can shut down the pc is to use the on/off
button which I am not too happy about.

Any ideas as to what could be the cause would be
appreciated.

Go to Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy.
Expand "Local Policies" and Click on "User Rights Assignment".
Edit "Shut Down the System" Priviledges to include Administrators, Backup
Operators, Power Users and Users.
