Hello,
I am running a laptop on Windows xp pro and get message missing boot ini file.
I have booted via cd rom with xp disk I get so far and then I get asked
which windows installation would you like to log onto and also administrator
password.
If any one knows what I have to put in when asked these 2 questions would
like to hear from you.
Thanks
GAC.

You should see your Windows installation listed in the Recovery Console.
You enter the number (for ex. "1") of the install. If you don't see a
Windows installation, there is more problem than just a missing
boot.ini.

The Recovery Console password is the one for the built-in Administrator
account. If you have XP Pro, you assigned this password when you first
set up the machine. If you have Home, the default password is a blank.
Of course, you could have changed the Administrator password in Home
but you probably didn't.
