When I reply or forward any emails, the arrow icon doesn't appear so i have
no idea which emails I have replied to or forwarded. I have looked
everywhere and can't figure out how to "turn them on" Can you help? (I'm
using Outlook 2007)

IMAP and Hotmail accounts may not show those icons.

I know other people using the same and they aren't having this problem. Is
it random? Is there a change I can make or do I just live with it?

What type of account are you using? Of course it's not random.

Hotmail folders that are not the delivery location won't show the icons. I
haven't checked to see if they do if they are the delivery location.

Hello,

We are experiencing the same problem. Sometimes the arrows just don't show
up. If you open the email in your inbox, it tells you it has been forwarded
or replied. We are using Exchange 2007 with Outlook 2003 and 2007.

Thanks!

As am I - Outlook 2007 SP1 and Exchange Server 2007. This issue appears to
be isolated to my Outlook client.

Possible solution to missing reply / forward icons

I to have experienced the visual icons for reply and forwarding missing in Outlook 2007. This thread shows many folks having the same issue. I found a possible solution at the following link: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/291

I followed the instructions for "Adding the Icon Column" for Outlook 2007 and all is well now! The reply and forward arrow icons have all appeared again and seem to be working fine. I hope this helps folks out.

Thank you so much and good luck!

Missing Arrows on Outlook Reply or Forward Messages

They say if you can't figure out what's causing it, replicating the problem may be the next best thing. There is no exact science but here's what I found and you may also want to check it. I believe this is why the arrows randomly show (or don't show):

Your desktop or workstation's time/clock is not exactly the same as your Outlook Exchange time. They are at least a few seconds different. If you replied or forwarded an email immediately after receiving it, and your workstation's time is off by even a minute against the message delivery time, NO ARROWS will show. If you want to experiment, you may change your desktop time by at least a minute so the difference is a little more pronounced. But please note that when you change your workstation time, you have to log-in again (restart). Some network security apps prevent workstation to authenticate on Active Directory if the difference in time is more than 5 minutes so be sure to change the time difference under 5 minutes.

There is a Microsofy KB on this issue but there's no mention on the time difference as the cause of the missing arrows.

To my organization, it's not a big deal since Sent Items are tagged anyway but I happen to notice the arrows on my own.

Hope this helps. I know it's an age old question but at least it can relieve some of the head-scratching.

Cheers!
