Missing appointments in Outlook

Outlook 2003

Appointments that were there last week are now missing. They were not
deleted by the creator. One was a recurring appointment. Where do I start?

Are you syncing with a PDA like device? Is it visible if you search or use
the By Category view? Did you look in the deleted items folder?
