missing adildr.sys

Roger Snelling

My USB pendrive has stopped functioning. In the error log I get the message

'The General Purpose USB Driver (adildr.sys) service failed to start due to
the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.'

Can anyone tell me how to reinstall this file and its location on the hard
drive?

Thanks Roger

Roger,

* Open Device Manager > locate you Pendrive, right-click and select 'Update
Driver'
* Select 'Next' > If it can't find the driver or doesn't install a new one:
* right-click your Pendrive, select 'Update Driver', select 'Install from a
list or a specific location (Advanced)', click 'Next'
* Copy & Paste C:\WINDOWS\system32 into the search box, click 'Next'
Note:
If it doesn't find it there, try pasting C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers, if
it's still not found:
* right-click your Pendrive and select 'Uninstall, click OK, reboot. It
should install automatically.

ps-Don't you have a CD for the Pendrive? Try reinstalling the drivers that
way.

Drew
