When I start Word I get a file conversion error. Closing that opens another
error message: The add-in template is not valid c:\...\startup\~$zwaddin.dot.
When I look under Templates and Add-ins I see the errant dot file listed
under Global twmplates and Add-ins but it is grayed out. checking the box
next to it does nothing and Remove is grayed out as well. How can I tell Word
to stop looking for this add-in?

I believe this started when I upgraded from Office XP to 2003.

Hi Robert,

Files that Word uses that begin with ~$
are temporary files.

You may want to close all Office apps then use Start=>Search and recyle files found with this search string.
~$*.*;*.tmp
and then starting Word to see if you still get the error.
