I HAVE A SERVER WITH 2 80GB MORRORED HARD DRIVES ON A RAID PCI CARD

I NEED MORE STORAGE SPACE

IAM RUNNING WINDOWS 2000 SERVER STD

iam not sure if just replacing 1 hard drive 1st then letting it re morror
will work then add the 2nd larger hard drive after that

your advice would be greatfully appeciated

You also have a stuck caps lock key.

RAID 1 (Mirroring) only works when the mirrored devices are the same size, so if
you replace one disk in a RAID1 configuration with a larger disk, it may use it,
but it will not use it's full capacity. Assuming you get away with that, the
second drive swap will simply become a mirror of that, and have the same problem.

Does the card have any other available ports, for adding two larger drives on as
a second mirror set?

Failing that, you are looking at a backup and restore onto a newly created
mirror. NTBackup should be able to cope with that sort of thing, assuming you
can find the space or media to write the backup onto it. (And full backups are
always a nice thing to have, because whatever anyone may say, RAID is not a
substitute for backups)

I wonder, would PM server version enable the expanding of the partition,
after the mirror is rebuilt with the larger drives?
