Hi,

I've just recevived my 5400 II and the speed is very slow when i'm on
the net (USB modem). Plugged out the modem the speed is surely best.

I'm to buy an USB 2.0 adpater card. Does the speed will really get
faster as i guees it ?

File transfer does. The scanner runs at its own speed.

.... and ought to stop for a while and then restart scanning, and
possibly do that more than once, if bus speed isn't enough.

I also have USB 1.1 and scanning wide areas, or scanning at 16 bpc, is a
pain.

It should for ICE scans. I use Firewire (5400) and it is much faster
than the USB [1.0] interface for ICE. For non-ICE, probably no great
difference.

Cheers,
