Minimized windows disapper

Every time I minimize any open window they disappear and will not show up on
the task bar. The only way to retrieve the minimized window is to use the
Task Manager and click on the "Switch To..." button. Has anyone experienced
this before, or have a fix?

Actually you can shift to another running program with the Alt/Tab
combination.
