Minimize Windows Mail

My question has two parts, really. Is there a way for you to get alerts when
you have new mail in Windows mail without it being open? Is there a way to
minimize Windows Mail to the task bar so it's not hanging on your program
list?

Your probably talking about the Notification Area, which is the small
section where the clock resides. The Taskbar is the entire bar along the
bottom of the monitor. There is no way to do this with Windows Mail.

OK... How do you minimize Windows Mail to the task bar?

To minimise to the Taskbar just use the standard minimise button @ top
right.

Do you mean the notification area?

Windows Mail doesn't show an icon in the notification area of the Taskbar.

However, Windows Live Mail Desktop (beta) does.
