Mini setup reboots after sysprep

I'm trying to deploy a standard XP SP2 installation using sysprep. I've
prepared the standard PC, run sysprep with the reseal/mini-setup option and
then ghosted the machine.

However, when the image is copied to a drive and placed into an indentical
machine the mini-setup routine causes the pc to reboot every time, after the
license key is entered - no error, just a total reboot.

This happens even in the original PC that sysprep was run on, so it looks
unlikely that there is a problem with the image file.

If I run sysprep without the mini-setup option, then everything works OK,
but thats not what I want as I want to enter the correct key for each machine.

All thats on the machine is Office 2003,antivirus and a couple of basic
applications.

Anyone got any ideas why the reboot loop occurs with the mini-setup option?

Tap the F5 key when the computer is booting up. Pick "Disable
Automatic Restart on System Failure". See if it gets to a BSOD and
then report back the message it gives.

I believe the mini-setup re-enumerates the hardware...if it can't find
the IDE drivers you'll get the behavior you described.

Thanks for that.

After some research,I found it was actually because the Telephony service
was disabled. I've heard of that on Server 2003 sysprep but not XP. Bizarre,
but enabling the service and all now works perfectly!
